Cheongamjeong Pavilion and Seokcheon Valley

Cheongamjeong Pavilion (靑巖亭) built on the turtle-shaped rock and Seokcheonjeong Pavilion (石泉亭) located in Seokcheon Valley flowing in front of the village are the two major scenic spots representing Daksil Village. The area boasts of the stunning harmony of nature made up of lush pine forest, valleys, and beautiful viewing stones, and it was nationally designated as Scenic Spot No. 60 on December 9, 2009.
Daksil Village was first established in 1380 by the ancestor of Gwon Beol aka Chungjae, who was a Joseon dynasty scholar and official. The shape of the village resembled a golden chicken hatching an egg, so it was called “Daksil Maeul.” Lee Jung-hwan, the mid-Joseon scholar from the Realist School of Confucianism, recorded this area as the country’s most picturesque spot in the geography book (Jiriseo.)
